Petless households

Picture 063 I can't imagine not having a pet. Can you? Regardless of allergy issues, we have always had cats and dogs in our house. I remember when my younger sister was a child with asthma and my mother told me that the dr. wanted us to give our (my) dog away because of her medical issues. The idea wasn't just unthinkable... it was ridiculous, as far as I was concerned.

"Why can't we give her away?" I asked my mother.

I bet you would have done the same! Luckily, we mustered through and today my sister has dogs and cats of her own.

But, there are households out there that are petless. People who think pets are "dirty" or too much work, or something. Granted, wet dog is not an attractive smell, but wet people isn't either! It just means someone, dog or person, needs a bath!Onyx-and-Tom

When I meet people who don't have pets - who think dogs make a mess, cats are evil, or whatever, I wonder about them. People who seriously can't have pets because of some medical condition get a little more sympathy, but, again, even I was told by my allergist to get rid of all my drapes, carpets and pets... and I just left his office and never went back.

Pets provide a lot of comfort. They teach children responsibility. They even help reduce stress. They add love and life to a household. The reason we have pets is to share the love. There can never be too much love in the world.

Right?
