Challenge #20 - Dirty Scraps

Here's the challenge:

Moving On Up-

We all have life experiences that define us whether they be good or bad.
Even the bad experiences help us to grow and move on.
This very dirty challenge is to look at that time when you grew a little and
MOVED ON.
I have moved on babay! It's in the past, life lesson learned and I am a better person for it.
It's all about moving on and moving up.

Now go get dirty with it!

Here's my layout for the challenge:

Journaling reads: As a little girl, I watched my parents take in stray cats. Their idea of respecting an animal was especially confusing to me when I learned that my own kitten had gotten hit by a car and eventually died. I knew then that they were being too liberal with the animals they claim to have cared for. They felt that cats should have the freedom to be outside as they wish. I wish I could say that they learned their lesson and kept their cats inside the house. But as I grew up, I witnessed more and more deaths - mostly from hit and run. My parents blame the drivers - those who hit them and never bothered to stop. Of course I can blame them too, because I think that's such a cold thing to do. But I place most of the blame on my parents. I have a very protective attitude about my pets now that I have two wonderful dogs in my life. My philosophy is simple: if you love them, you'll protect them. I feel that as painful as it has been to have moved on from the heartache, I've learned how to be a responsible pet owner.

I used digital elements from Everyday Mom Ideas Design and Bran's Brainiac Designs. Papers from Wild Sorbet and Scrappin' Serenity.

Tsarina Tuesday ~ Artemisia

We got this litter box from CSN Stores. It is the largest litter box we has and it has a door on it for privacy so I have claimed it as my own. We each has our own litter box now. I kinda liked it in the house but Mommy & Daddy put it out in the garage with the other litter boxes after Mommy took the picture. ~Artemisia

PS: Thank you for your purrs, prayers and crossed paws for our Grandpa. He is home from the hospital now but has restrictions on his activity and what he can eat. Mommy is looking for some good low sodium, low cholesterol dishes to fix for Thanksgiving. Mommy & Daddy have been helping feed the goats and do stuffs around their house, so we won't be visiting or blogging regularly for awhile but will post and visit when we can. ~AFSS

GUS!

So over the weekend I was cleaning and I noticed that Gus was in the window and looking very autumn-y, partly because he looks about the same color as the leaves outside. I decided to take some pictures, which are below. He also said to add a special Hi to Ozabella - he hopes she thinks he looks handsome! But first a couple things....

Blog'n Waco Foster Cat need pics of black kitties! We submitted some pictures of Floyd and he was up on Friday (of course we weren't online so I didn't know til today). You can see that post HERE.

Also, our dog friend Sagira is in a contest and needs votes! It is a very close contest and it is on facebook, so I can't really vote - but you can read about it at her blog HERE! She is a cutie and if you don't know any of the other contestants and have facebook, if you could help her out that would be cool. Plus, her dad is a really good photographer so you should check out her picture!

We are supposed to be getting a big storm coming through tonight with lots of high winds tomorrow - maybe if I am lucky my office will loose power (kidding - wait no I am not). I did get a lot of catching up done today and hope to get more tomorrow - but when the weather is crummy the network gets wonky, so well, cross your fingers for me!

Ok, here are the pictures now!

Central Florida Pet Rescue, "A New Beginning, Needs Homes and Fosters NOW!

by Carrie Boyko, CEB

Blog the Change

Imagine you are a rescue organization. Today you take in 10 labs. Now multiply that by 25 and you'll get a sense of what A New Beginning is up against.

The result of a complicated legal mess in nearby Polk County, A New Beginning was recently awarded custody of more than 250 Labs and Lab mixes. The need is enormous. Food, medical care, dishes, flea and heart worm preventives all are on the wish list that seems impossible to manage.

All of A New Beginning's dogs are cared for in foster homes. This makes for a particularly tough transition, when so many dogs are acquired all at once. If you are able to adopt a Lab, foster a Lab (or two?), volunteer, or donate, please visit A New Beginning to learn more. You can also check out Labs in Need, where the story of this sudden flow of Labs is unfolding as I write.

If you are able to help, I have a few small prizes to hand out as thank yous. Leave a comment about your involvement or donation, or send me an email (LetsAdoptaDogPark@gmail.com) and I'll send you a thank you, as long as the trinkets hold out.

Today, all over the U.S. bloggers are posting about a pet cause, pet rescue or pet charity. You can learn more about the Blog the Change for Animals day at this link. Be sure to tell them I sent you, and enjoy a few fun new places to read up your pets:

Reality Bites (Article)

You enter the living room, the family is settled in to watch their favorite TV show and you notice the last spot on the couch has been claimed by Sparky. You bend down and put a finger through the collar and you hear a low growl, and as you continue to scoot him down off the couch, the unthinkable happens…he sinks his teeth into your arm.
